Support Space is hoping to do for tech support what Amazon did for buying books.
Support Space has been around for a couple of years now, but has been in beta testing for most of that. In early 2008, it’s now been opened up to everyone.
You can sign in, and then browse over 100 certified technicians. I’m unclear on how the certification is verified, but each profile lists the tech’s expertise, technical certifications, customer ratings, and fees. Some charge per session, and some by the hour. This is usually done by chat line, or sometimes by phone.
You can also type in the specific problem you’re having, and then receive a list of matching tech profiles. Every profile includes an icon which indicates whether the tech is online or not.
Check it out. This could be a very useful tool. Especially considering the increasingly poor tech support given by purchased products and services. Plus, this could be a great way for geeks like you and me to earn a few extra bucks!

Before I start my rant, just let me clarify that I still feel Firefox is far superior to Internet Explorer. It’s still my browser of choice, but I really don’t appreciate not being given the choice to make Firefox my default browser upon installation.
As a website designer, and a blogger, I’m always dealing with different web hosting companies. I try to stay on top of who’s offering what, and what it all means to you and me.
My daughter lives in Brighton, England. I can call her anytime from the U.S. for absolutely nothing and we can talk for as long as we want to. Ain’t the internet great?
I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time paying the inflated prices at the local computer parts stores.
