My name is Curt Despres. I’m the owner and designer of a website design company located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  Xcel Webworks.

I have been programming computers since 1980. (I know, makes me sound old!). But then 52 isn’t really all that old.

I acquired a 2 year degree in 1982 for Computer Programming. Specializing in Cobol and RPGII. I have also spent many (many, many…) years programming CNC machines off and on. (Stands for Computer Numerical Control). 

CSS and Html came very naturally to me when I started working with it. I can’t imagine doing anything other than designing websites. I absolutely love every aspect of it. I use Adobe Dreamweaver for a visual editor, but end up hand coding most of the html and CSS.

Which brings me to the graphics side of it. I love working in Adobe Photoshop. Every time I think I’ve arrived, and can call myself an expert, I see a tutorial somewhere and realize how much there is to learn still.

And then there is my love for computers. I repaired computers for a while, but decided that business was too much of a pain in the butt! You end up being tech support for life. Even when the fix, tweak, or modification you performed has nothing to do with what’s ailing the computer now. (2 years later!), you still somehow get the blame for it.

I have built at least a dozen custom computers now. That’s where the fun is at. We’ll be blogging about that also, no doubt!
